Full Text OpenURL Resolvers (outgoing requests)

Learn how to specify your OpenURL resolvers for WorldCat Discovery.

To access this screen, sign in Service Configuration, open the WorldCat Discovery and WorldCat Local left navigation, select Full Text OpenURL Resolvers (outgoing requests).

Use this screen to specify the OpenURL resolvers that will display for outgoing requests.

Full Text OpenURL Resolver (optional)

If you have a full text OpenURL resolver configured to display, a button or link to the resolver will display to users. If your OpenURL Resolver or your ILLiad resolver is missing or not working as expected, supply the URL to the correct resolver.

  • Which Full Text Resolver should display?: Choose which resolver (your library’s, your consortium’s, etc.) you wish to display from the drop-down list.
  • Link Label: If you would like to change the label, type the text you would like to use for your full text button. For best display, keep this label under 30 characters.
    • Optional. Click the check box to open the link in a new window when users click the button.
    • Optional. To include translated display text:
      • Click Add Translations The text is expanded to display additional fields.
      • Select a Language from the drop-down list and enter Custom Text in the text field.
      • Optional. Click Add Translation to add additional translations.
  • Choose the Full Text OpenURL Resolver for Worldcat.org: Choose a Full Text OpenURL Resolver from the OpenURL Resolvers you have already registered with OCLC.
  • For items held by your library: Choose the option you prefer for when you want to display full text to your users at the local, group, and worldwide levels for items you hold. Options include:
    • Always
    • Never
    • It depends on item type
    • It depends on item type, status, and location.
    • If no local links were found at the local OPAC, then it depends on item type, status, and lcoation.
  • For items not held by your library: Choose the option you prefer for when you want to display full text to your users at the local, group, and worldwide levels for items not held by your library but held by libraries worldwide. Options include:
    • Always
    • Never
    • It depends on item type

When you are finished making changes, click Save to save and continue, or Cancel to start over.
