If we select a database for metasearch, and we don’t subscribe to all of the indexed content, what happens during an Advanced search with this database selected?
Applies to
- WorldCat Discovery
Answer
As libraries often don't hold everything in a database, we suggest using selections your library makes in Knowledge Base collections to set holdings. This way we will use the matching ISSN and coverage dates to set holdings. Those within your coverage will be returned as held when a user is searching WorldCat Discovery. This is why we recommend for most databases that you use KB coverage to set holdings rather than marking an entire database with the treat as held option.
