What is a session ID for WorldCat Discovery and what is it for?

Applies to
  • WorldCat Discovery
Answer

The session ID is a series of numbers that appears at the bottom of the page in WorldCat Discovery. An example being 960be5ec-cda1-4875-9af6-1cf95f6911a1.

A new string is generated with each page of Discovery and contains information for that page, including errors. Because of this, including it in your request to OCLC Support can be beneficial for their troubleshooting.
