Why does the Borrow button in WorldCat.org lead to a different item with a different OCLC number in my library's catalog?
Applies to
- WorldCat.org
Answer
WorldCat.org groups related items together, so that users looking at the record of an item with one format can link to a related record in a library's ILS with a different format or edition. Signing in and selecting the option to view "this edition" in WorldCat.org will prevent the links to related editions from showing.
If the record is linking to a completely different item in your catalog, contact OCLC Support with a link to the WorldCat.org record and a description of the problem so that OCLC staff can review the grouping.
