Geographic Strengths

Overview

Use the following information to help you gather the information needed in the Geographic Strengths part of the profile.

Each Geographic Strengths screen lets you indicate the strength of your collection for each geographic area included in a section of the MARC Code List for Geographic Areas (GAC).

The default strength level for each geographic area is 1. None or Minimal Information. Change the default level for each geographic area in which your institution's collection has a strength level of 2 or greater.

For help, see Levels of collection strength.

Consider your own location

Consider assigning a higher strength level to geographic areas for your country or local region. Some libraries overlook their strength in resources about their own location.
