Null error returned when sign in to FirstSearch

Symptom
  • Starting Monday, 10 September 2018, if you sign in to FirstSearch using an old link that starts with HTTP, you are redirected to the new HTTPS service and will receive a Null error.

  • OCLC FirstSearch
Resolution

OCLC made the switch in FirstSearch this morning Monday, 9/10/2018 to be available exclusively over HTTPS.

 

Issue

  • Access sign in screen on HTTP (from saved history/cookies)
  • Sign in
  • Redirected to HTTPS
  • Null error returned

 

Solution

  • Clear cache/cookies -or-
  • On sign in screen, click the refresh button or press F5
