Release Date: September 9, 2026

Introduction

This release of CapiraMobile provides new features and enhancements for users on the newest version of the app with Staff Dashboard access.

  • See improved app navigation with refreshed header and footer, plus updated shortcut icons with more intuitive placement and behavior

Recommended actions

Select enhancements and bug fixes require users to update or restart their app. If your users do not see the expected changes, please confirm they have installed or updated their app to the latest version, and ask them to force close and restart the app.  We encourage you to review all of the items in the release notes to determine whether there are other items that might require additional action or follow up by your institution.

Administrative actions

These items require immediate action or decisions.

Action Description
Minimum iOS Version Update — Action May Be Required The minimum supported iOS version has been updated from iOS 14 to iOS 15 to comply with Apple's upcoming App Store requirements. Patrons currently using iOS 14 will need to update their device to iOS 15 or later to continue receiving app updates.
Bottom Navigation Configuration Now Live — Review Recommended Your library's bottom navigation configuration is now live in the app. Your staff should review bottom navigation labels and configurable item settings in the Staff Dashboard Navigation section to confirm everything is configured as intended.
Search Metadata Display Decommissioned — Awareness Recommended The Staff Dashboard > Options > Search Metadata Display page is being decommissioned in anticipation of upcoming improvements to how metadata is presented in search result cards and item details. As part of this change, reviews will no longer appear on the item details screen. The current reviews implementation relied on data that was not always current or available across your collection, which limited the usefulness of the feature. Please note that there is no replacement for reviews at this time.

New features and enhancements

Modernized App Header

The app header has been redesigned with a cleaner, more modern layout that displays your library's branding alongside an account icon that reflects each user's current login state. When logged in, the icon displays the user's initials; when logged out, a generic icon appears. If your library has Mobile Checkout enabled, the checkout button is also accessible from the header. Consortium users will see a library selector in the header for switching between associated member libraries.

Benefits

  • Your users can immediately see whether they are logged in or out directly from the app header.
  • Your users can quickly access their account information by tapping on the account icon.
  • Consortium users can switch between member libraries directly from the header, without navigating away from their current screen.
  • Your users with Mobile Checkout enabled have quick, consistent access to that feature from the top of the app.

Impact

  • The app header now displays login state, mobile checkout access, and — for consortium libraries — a library selector. Bringing new elements that were previously not visible at the top of the app.
Configurable

Modernized Bottom Navigation

The bottom navigation bar has been refreshed with a modernized visual design, updated icons and labels, and improved active state indicators that make it easier to identify the current screen. The bar supports up to five destinations and automatically adjusts its layout based on the number of items configured.

Benefits

  • Your users can more easily identify where they are in the app through clearer active state indicators and updated iconography.
  • The updated navigation bar accommodates up to five destinations, including a configurable custom item, providing your library with greater flexibility in how users navigate the app.
  • Note: Please see the August Release Notes for more information about customizing the bottom navigation bar in the Staff Dashboard.

Impact

  • The bottom navigation bar has a new visual appearance, including updated icons, labels, and active state styling that differs from the previous design.

Bug fixes

You can now enter a Pay Fines URL of up to 200 characters in the Staff Dashboard, with a live character count to help track your input. Previously, the field silently truncated any URL longer than 150 characters without notifying you.

Alert Scheduling Year No Longer Reverts

You can now schedule alerts for 2027 and later in the Staff Dashboard without the year reverting to the current year. Previously, selecting a future year in the scheduling field would reset back to the current year when the field lost focus.

Account Avatar Now Navigates Consistently to the Account Screen

Your users can now tap the account avatar on any screen in the app and be reliably taken to the main Account screen. Previously, tapping the avatar on certain account-related screens would incorrectly navigate to the Switch Account screen instead.
