WEBVTT 1 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:03.138 --> 00:00:12.029 So, welcome again, everyone, this is Rick. I'm a senior product trainer, which means that I spend my time designing and delivering training for. 2 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:12.029 --> 00:00:20.310 To, as well, as wheelchair circulation and record manager and report designer. 3 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:20.310 --> 00:00:24.630 And I just want to check 1 more time. I'd be sure that everybody can see in here. If you. 4 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:24.630 --> 00:00:40.290 Are seeing the slide with my picture in the title of today's session and if you are hearing my voice, please click 1 of those feedback icons at the bottom of the participants panel. And if you're having any problems with the audio video, please send a message. And chat. 5 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:44.160 --> 00:00:50.370 I don't see any messages on chats. We'll assume that the audio's okay for everyone. 6 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:50.370 --> 00:00:56.130 So, by the end of today's session, you should be able to decide how you'll use. 7 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:00:56.130 --> 00:01:10.710 Some of the deposit features, including lending priorities, and advanced lending workflows you'll be able to process lending requests for loans and copies and that includes printing, pull slips and packing slips and shipping labels for. 8 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:01:10.710 --> 00:01:24.540 Items that you're going to send to other libraries, and also how to transmit scan copies of the article exchange and you'll have an opportunity during the session to participate in a simulation in the quiz. 9 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:01:24.540 --> 00:01:44.540 So, I'd like to begin by talking about what our lending priorities and advanced lending. These are features that are found only into POS, and not in world share inter, library loan. And the lending priorities are a way that you can give us the name implies. 10 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:01:44.540 --> 00:02:01.650 To whichever borrowing library designate as priority borrowers so these might be libraries in your state, or libraries in your consortium where there might be libraries in the same courier service. And what it does is, it allows you to process those requests. 1st. 11 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:02:05.610 --> 00:02:25.610 The advanced lending work flows are verifying, retrieving scanning and packaging. These are completely optional. You don't have to use them if they're not useful for your library. But if you have more than 1 person in your library, that is responsible for lending operations, you might find these very useful. So, for example, when you receive a new. 12 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:02:25.610 --> 00:02:38.610 Request from a borrowing library, you could put it in the retrieving queue and if you have student workers or assistants, part time staff, for example, or new staff. 13 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:02:38.610 --> 00:02:58.610 Staff are responsible for retrieving audits from the stacks and then packaging them if they're a loan request or scanning. If it's a copy request this lets staff that are doing those tasks. Know that those are the requests they need to work on if you are, uh, 1 person operation and lending. 14 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:02:58.610 --> 00:03:08.040 You might not find these useful, but they can be very useful for, for libraries that have more than 1, Iowa lending staff. 15 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:03:08.040 --> 00:03:26.490 Um, these, uh, these sub queues are minor cues or identity queues is sometimes called are also available in document delivery. If you enable that feature and we have another training session later this month on document delivery. 16 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:03:26.490 --> 00:03:46.490 So, as I mentioned, some suggested uses for lending priorities, some libraries are in states, where you have a statewide agreement, where you you give priority to requests from other libraries in your stay. Or, if your library is a member of a consortium, you might have an agreement within the consortium to. 17 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:03:46.490 --> 00:03:50.070 Process request from consortium members, um. 18 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:03:50.070 --> 00:03:59.700 1st, before requests from libraries outside your consortium, or you might do this if you have reciprocal agreements with other libraries. 19 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:03:59.700 --> 00:04:09.750 So that that's another reason, or if you want to get special handling to request from libraries that are on the same career services, you so, for example, let's say that. 20 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:04:09.750 --> 00:04:29.750 for loan items that you're going to send out through us mail you have until the end of the day let's say five zero pm to process those requests but the courier pick up as at noon so any requests that are going to go out on the courier have to be ready by noon otherwise they have to wait until the next day well you might put 21 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:04:29.750 --> 00:04:41.129 Requests from, or libraries that are on their courier service, and our priority lending group, and that way you can process those requests. 1st. 22 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:04:41.129 --> 00:05:01.129 So, here's some suggested uses and some examples for how you might use lending workflows. Um, if you have several full time staff and several, uh, part time or student workers, uh, you might use all 4 verifying, retrieving scanning and packaging. I actually don't know too many. 23 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:05:01.129 --> 00:05:14.579 Libraries that are using the verifying cube, but they do use the other ones. If you have 1 full time staff, and several assistants, uh, then you might use the retrieving scanning and packaging queues. 24 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:05:14.579 --> 00:05:34.579 If you have this 1 full time staff, and just 1 assistant, and that assistant is going to do not only retrieving items from the stacks, but also the scanning your packaging. There wouldn't really be any reason to use the scanning and packaging queues. You might just use the retrieving queue if you are all alone in, then you. 25 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:05:34.579 --> 00:05:54.579 Don't use any of these and again, they're completely optional some something that people often ask is well, can I just turn on some of these queues and not others? The answer is no, they're either all on or all off, but you only use the ones that makes sense for your library and request do not get into 1 of these. 26 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:05:54.579 --> 00:06:13.469 Unless a staff member at your library, puts them in that queue. So, it doesn't doesn't happen automatically as a result of other other, um, things that you do in. Uh, and normally you move them in a particular order from retrieving to either scanning or packaging. But you can actually. 27 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:06:13.469 --> 00:06:28.139 He uses in any order so, let's say, for example, you put a request, let's say it's a copy request in the retrieving queue and your assistant goes to the shelves and tries to find the request that article. 28 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:06:28.139 --> 00:06:41.009 And, uh, they, they can't find it and, uh, so what they could do is they could, uh, write a staff know, or put a tag on that request and then move it into the verifying queue. 29 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:06:41.009 --> 00:07:01.009 And then, maybe as the, the full time person, you could look at that request and maybe the, the volume number of the year is wrong in the request. You could do some research and correct that and then update the tag or the staff note and move it back into the retrieving queue. So that's another way that you could you could use these. 30 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:01.009 --> 00:07:05.009 Verifying retrieving scanning and packaging is. 31 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:12.149 --> 00:07:17.279 Several things to know about the advanced lending and the lending priorities. 32 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:17.279 --> 00:07:28.409 You can configure up to 5 priority lending queues. So let's say, for example, you want 1 priority lending queue for your state, another 1 for your consortium, and another 1 for your career service. 33 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:28.409 --> 00:07:32.669 You can have 3 different groups of priority borrowers. 34 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:32.669 --> 00:07:44.969 I already mentioned that for the verifying retrieving scanning and packaging queues the request move between those keys only as a result of staff action not as a result of any. 35 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:07:44.969 --> 00:08:04.969 Automatic things the system does, it's also really important to know that moving a request into 1 of those cues does not stop the request aging or change the days to respond. So, let's say, for example, that you have your days to respond set to 2 days, and so today is Tuesday and let's. 36 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:08:04.969 --> 00:08:24.969 Say that you put a request in the retrieving cute today, and you don't take any further action on it until Friday well, by by Friday, the request will already automatically move on to the next library and the lender string. So, just because he put in the retrieving key that doesn't. 37 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:08:24.969 --> 00:08:32.129 Have any, any impact on your days to respond or the, the request aging. 38 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:08:39.869 --> 00:08:48.899 So, um, let's talk a little bit about, um. 39 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:08:48.899 --> 00:09:05.699 The work flow 1st, I'll show you some slides and then I'll go into the live system and show you some live examples. So, assuming that you decide to enable the lending priorities if you receive a request from 1 of the libraries that you've designated as a. 40 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:09:05.699 --> 00:09:25.699 A priority borrower that request will be in your candy supply queue under lending priorities as well as in your regular lending request, can you supply key? So, in other words, it will appear in both tiers and just like, for the lending request, can you supply queue? You can work with. 41 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:09:25.699 --> 00:09:41.519 Wants a copy separately if you want to so notice in this example, there are 4 loan requests and 2 copy requests for a total of 6. I'm actually I'm going to go into the live system for a 2nd, and I want to show you. 42 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:09:41.519 --> 00:09:52.079 Notice in this example, if I look at my capital city lending parties Q I have 3 loans and 2 copies for total of 5. and let's. 43 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:09:52.079 --> 00:10:02.129 Take a quick look at those so I have international performance improvement, Shakespeare, et cetera. And if I look at my can you supply queue? 44 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:02.129 --> 00:10:05.189 You'll notice the same request are in. 45 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:05.189 --> 00:10:18.659 That queue and the, the regular lending request, can you supply queue also includes requests from libraries that have not busy not been designated as a priority borrower. 46 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:18.659 --> 00:10:29.249 So, what you would do is open that, can you supply queue and, uh, in this example, we opened the. 47 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:29.249 --> 00:10:40.799 The loan, um, queue 1st and so you get a list of requests, notice that it has the request ID the title, the borrowing library. 48 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:40.799 --> 00:10:55.349 And the time to respond, this is the time to respond is based on, uh, your days to respond that your library sets, and the, uh, policies directory as well as the the need by day. So you'll notice that. 49 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:10:55.349 --> 00:11:15.349 Uh, 2 of these requests, you have less than 12 hours to respond before automatically routes on to the next lending library and the 2nd, 2, you have more than 5 days. So, by default, these are sorted by time to respond, but you can click on any of these column headings to sort them in a different order. 50 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:11:15.349 --> 00:11:24.689 By borrower, or by title, for example. So typically, what you do is you open the request, you want to work with by clicking either the request ID, or the title. 51 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:11:24.689 --> 00:11:31.709 And, um, the automatic catalog lookup shows, the availability. 52 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:11:31.709 --> 00:11:51.709 And the location call number, if you have a single holding, and this is if you have integration, enabled, OPEC integration is available for most integrated library systems. Um, so some of you already have this set up, uh, if you don't, I wouldn't. 53 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:11:51.709 --> 00:11:53.879 Encourage you to. 54 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:11:53.879 --> 00:12:13.879 To set it up and there are instructions in, uh, in the documentation and the help for how to set this up. And, of course, you can always contact my colleagues and support if you need help setting this up. Um, this saves you a lot of time. It means that you don't have to do a separate step of. 55 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:12:13.879 --> 00:12:17.159 Looking up the, uh, the item in your catalog. 56 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:12:17.159 --> 00:12:28.619 Uh, when the request comes into your, um, can you supply queue either under lending priorities, or your regular, uh, supply queue? Uh, you'll already know the information about. 57 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:12:28.619 --> 00:12:42.689 Whether or not, this is available. In fact, if it's not available, it will just automatically route onto the next library if it's checked out for example. And so a notice in this example, it says that. 58 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:12:42.689 --> 00:13:02.689 Under local Holdings, it shows you the brand shoveling location call number. It tells you the availability status and how long ago the system check the availability the local ID field has the location on call number. And the reason you care about this is because if you print the request or print a bootstrap or a stick. 59 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:13:02.689 --> 00:13:22.689 The the local ID, the location call number will be printed on that that print out. And that will obviously assist you in finding the item in the stacks. So, what you might want to do is add to the bootstrap sticker. That's 1 possible workflow. It's not the only. 60 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:13:22.689 --> 00:13:30.089 Full 1, but it's 1 that that I think is probably the more efficient 1. and then if you decide to use those. 61 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:13:30.089 --> 00:13:33.839 Those cues the advanced lending is. 62 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:13:33.839 --> 00:13:53.839 You could mark as retrieving if your library has multiple holdings let's say, for example, you have several copies of this item at several different branches to pass. It doesn't know which 1 you want to use to fill the request. So, it will give you a summary of your, your whole. 63 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:13:53.839 --> 00:14:00.059 Things, but in order to see the local Holdings, you, we need to click this view, all local holdings link. 64 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:14:00.059 --> 00:14:04.949 And then select the 1 that you want to use. 65 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:14:04.949 --> 00:14:24.779 So you'll notice in this example, the copy of the main branch is checked out and the copy of the East branch is not available for some reason. So, in this example, you would probably choose to use the 1 at the North Branch because that's available. So, you would click that button and then click the apply button. 66 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:14:24.779 --> 00:14:34.889 And now the look like D field will be populated with the location, a call number and then you would follow the same steps. You would add it to the bootstrap sticker, print queue. And then. 67 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:14:34.889 --> 00:14:54.889 Uh, Mark is retrieving if you don't have the OPEC integration set up, you can still search your library's catalog, but it's a few more clicks. So, again, the, the documentation helped out with SLC dot Org has instructions on setting up the. 68 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:14:54.889 --> 00:15:03.839 Opec integration or excuse me? Not not the OPEC integration. In this case, it's the search my libraries on catalog. Basically, you're. 69 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:03.839 --> 00:15:23.839 Telling to pass a, how to search your library's catalog, giving it the URL and so on. So you click that search my libraries on, like, catalog link and then your catalog will open in a separate browser tab or window and it will display whatever. Your catalog displays. And this. 70 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:23.839 --> 00:15:34.559 Example, it shows not checked out and here's the call number and then you would manually copy and paste that column into the local ID field. And again, the reason you would do that. 71 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:34.559 --> 00:15:46.799 Is sell that that call number will be on the print out when you add to book strap sticker, print queue and then you would mark as retrieving. 72 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:46.799 --> 00:15:52.739 So, um, your assistant would then open the, um. 73 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:52.739 --> 00:15:57.509 The print queue under lending for bootstraps and stickers. 74 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:15:57.509 --> 00:16:04.319 Select the request they want to print, or they could select all of them by clicking this button at the top of the screen. 75 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:04.319 --> 00:16:18.119 And then click print this is an example of what a bootstrap would look like, notice that it has the, uh, the request ID. Both. I readable. And in the form of a barcode. 76 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:18.119 --> 00:16:22.739 And it has a, the local ID, the location of call number. 77 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:22.739 --> 00:16:31.409 Bibliographic information, and some information about the borrowing library and the due date, which is supplied from your constant data. 78 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:31.409 --> 00:16:51.409 So, your assistant would use those to retrieve the books from the shell and then 1 possible workflow is they would open that retrieving queue when they, when they collected all the items and get back to their computer and then they could scan the request ID bar codes. On those those bootstraps and. 79 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:51.409 --> 00:16:55.439 Use batch processing to batch update to packaging. 80 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:16:55.439 --> 00:17:03.299 If another assistant is going to be doing the actual physical packaging and putting in the items in the mail. 81 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:03.299 --> 00:17:23.299 The the 2nd assistant could again scan that request ID bar code and they could even just do that from the home screen, and then print shipping labels. And they do that by once they have the request open selecting that checkbox for print shipping labels. If bootstraps have not previously. 82 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:23.299 --> 00:17:28.229 Been printed, they could also print book scripts or stickers at that time. 83 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:28.229 --> 00:17:43.379 And then click the yes. Button. So you want to be sure you have the item in hand before you click the yes. Button and you also want to be sure you click that. Yes. Button before you put the item in the mail. 84 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:43.379 --> 00:17:50.129 So, let's look at an example of how that looks in in the real system. So I'm going to. 85 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:50.129 --> 00:17:54.779 Back to my to pass the home screen and I'm going to open the. 86 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:17:54.779 --> 00:18:02.669 Lending priorities, candy, supply, new loans queue. 87 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:02.669 --> 00:18:07.769 And I'm going to open this 1st, request by clicking the. 88 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:07.769 --> 00:18:20.939 Request ID and then I'm going to. 89 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:20.939 --> 00:18:29.579 Do a couple of things notice that the local ID field is populated with the location call number. 90 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:29.579 --> 00:18:34.079 And then I'm going to click this arrow next to print now. 91 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:34.079 --> 00:18:39.779 And add to bootstrap sticker, print queue and I get a confirmation message. 92 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:39.779 --> 00:18:43.439 I'm also going to mark as considering. 93 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:43.439 --> 00:18:52.619 All right excuse me Mark is retrieving and I get a confirmation message. 94 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:52.619 --> 00:18:55.799 So, now I'm going to move on to the next request. 95 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:18:55.799 --> 00:19:01.649 By clicking this next request button at the top right of the screen. 96 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:01.649 --> 00:19:06.029 And I'll do the same things for this 1 the call number is populated. 97 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:06.029 --> 00:19:11.579 I'll add it to the bootstrap sticker print queue. 98 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:11.579 --> 00:19:19.439 Mark is retrieving and I would continue with with those requests. 99 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:19.439 --> 00:19:22.469 So, the next step. 100 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:22.469 --> 00:19:33.029 Would be for my assistant to open this, um, print queue. 101 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:33.029 --> 00:19:41.879 Notice I have 2 bootstraps or stickers, and then select the request that they want to print and, um. 102 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:41.879 --> 00:19:48.179 If you select to per page, that will be a book strap and I'll tell you what that looks like. 103 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:19:52.379 --> 00:20:08.129 Depending on your web browser, you might need to, uh, click a couple couple of other buttons. So, this is what the, uh, the bootstrap would look like, um, in service configuration you can do some limited customization of those bootstrap. For example, you can add your. 104 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:20:08.129 --> 00:20:13.739 A library's logo and you can, uh. 105 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:20:13.739 --> 00:20:20.549 Say what what text you want to be in the standard notes field at the bottom of the, uh. 106 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:20:20.549 --> 00:20:36.089 Screen and you can choose whether or not to display the due date. And again, this due date is supplied from your library's constant data. So, if you have, uh, +30 listed in your constant data, for example, that that will be the due date that's printed on on the bootstrap. 107 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:20:36.089 --> 00:20:52.859 The process to actually print these varies, depending on your web browser. I'm using Google Chrome so if I right click, I can see a printer icon and if you use a different web browser, it may look a little bit different. 108 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:20:52.859 --> 00:20:57.689 So that is a bootstrap. Let me show you what the. 109 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:01.439 --> 00:21:07.859 Sticker looks like select the ones I want to print. 110 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:07.859 --> 00:21:11.519 And if you select 6 per page, it will be a book sticker. 111 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:16.379 --> 00:21:22.259 And the books sticker has much of the same information, but because it's smaller. 112 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:22.259 --> 00:21:29.909 It doesn't have as much information, but it does have the request ID both in a bar code form and, and I, readable form. 113 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:29.909 --> 00:21:36.389 It has that location a call number from that local ID field some bibliographic information. 114 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:36.389 --> 00:21:43.109 Due date the borrower in lender note to patron and borrowing library. 115 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:43.109 --> 00:21:50.339 So, you can use whichever of those, you, you like better and works best for your library's workflow. 116 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:21:54.869 --> 00:22:01.889 And notice that even after I print these items, they remain in the print queue. And the reason for this is that. 117 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:01.889 --> 00:22:07.589 If something goes wrong with the printing, if there's a paper jam or or something else goes around with the printing. 118 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:07.589 --> 00:22:11.069 You can just print them again without, um. 119 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:11.069 --> 00:22:23.369 Without having to repeat that process, once you have successfully printed them, you probably want to remove them from the print queue and you do that by selecting the items you want to remove. 120 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:23.369 --> 00:22:26.999 And then click the remove button for now I'll, I'll leave them there. 121 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:26.999 --> 00:22:44.009 So then the next step, and this is again, just 1 possible workflow. There are other workflows possible is that your your assistant could then when they get back to their computer, what the items they've retrieved, they could open the. 122 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:44.009 --> 00:22:53.549 Retrieving cue, and if they want to add these to the, um, packaging queue. 123 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:53.549 --> 00:22:57.059 They can do that with a batch response. 124 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:22:57.059 --> 00:23:04.589 So, under batch respond to, can you supply items? I'll choose packaging and there are several ways that you can. 125 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:23:04.589 --> 00:23:20.489 Move these items from the bottom portion of the screen to the top portion. So the bottom portion of the screen is all of the requests that are are eligible to be added to this list. 1 way. You could do this. And this is probably what you would do if you just have 3 or 4. 126 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:23:20.489 --> 00:23:31.229 Is he could just click this plus sign and if you gonna intend to move 1 of these to the packaging queue, you can. 127 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:23:31.229 --> 00:23:37.709 Select the red X, and that will remove them from the list is going to be moved to the packaging queue. 128 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:23:46.949 --> 00:24:00.419 Another way that you can do this if you have a lot is you can scan the request ID bar code, notice that the cursor is blinking in this, uh, this request ID scan the barcode. 129 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:00.419 --> 00:24:09.059 And that moves it to the, um, the list it's going to be moved to the packaging queue. 130 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:09.059 --> 00:24:13.169 And now the final step is just to, like, packaging. 131 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:13.169 --> 00:24:26.159 So, if you have another assistant who's going to be doing the actual packaging they could then well, there are several ways that you could do this. They could just open the packaging queue. 132 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:26.159 --> 00:24:34.799 Or they could just come to the home screen and the home screen defaults to, um. 133 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:34.799 --> 00:24:45.809 The search type request ID and the cursor position in the request ID field. They could just scan the barcodes. 134 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:45.809 --> 00:24:52.679 And then once the, the item is open, uh, they can. 135 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:52.679 --> 00:24:59.399 Print shipping labels and then click. Yes. 136 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:24:59.399 --> 00:25:04.469 And you get a confirmation message that was updated to shift. 137 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:04.469 --> 00:25:09.059 And, of course, another way that you could do it is from the packaging queue. 138 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:09.059 --> 00:25:12.629 I'll open that request by clicking the request ID. 139 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:12.629 --> 00:25:19.319 It's like print shipping labels click yes. 140 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:19.319 --> 00:25:22.319 And now, uh, to print the shipping labels. 141 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:22.319 --> 00:25:25.799 I opened the shipping labels print queue. 142 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:25.799 --> 00:25:37.289 Again, select the request I want to print shipping labels for, and I can choose either 6 per page or 30 per page. The 30 per page. 143 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:42.719 --> 00:25:51.689 This has the, the shipping address and, um, you know, that prints on on the labels. 144 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:51.689 --> 00:25:56.639 If you choose 6 per paid. 145 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:25:56.639 --> 00:26:01.079 You also have the option to include the request ID in front of a barcode. 146 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:01.079 --> 00:26:05.639 A library mail statement and return service requested statement. 147 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:09.329 --> 00:26:13.169 And this is what those, uh, those would look like. So it has. 148 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:13.169 --> 00:26:17.459 Not only the shipping address of the library you're sending it to, but also. 149 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:17.459 --> 00:26:32.819 Uh, your address, your return address and that return service request is saint when the library mail statement and the request ID. So this would make it very easy for the borrowing library that receives it to update to. 150 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:32.819 --> 00:26:38.519 Uh, to update the status to received. 151 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:50.069 --> 00:26:54.359 What questions do you have about processing lending requests? 152 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:26:57.569 --> 00:27:07.559 Remember you can send any questions he may have and chat. 153 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:07.559 --> 00:27:12.569 And seeing none, I will move on to copy request. 154 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:12.569 --> 00:27:16.469 So, for copy request, you can still. 155 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:16.469 --> 00:27:20.759 Open the lending priorities queue. 156 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:26.579 --> 00:27:32.309 And, um, once, uh, let's assume that, uh. 157 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:32.309 --> 00:27:46.379 You've already moved it to the retrieving queue and your assistant has retrieved the items from the shelf and another another assistant is going to do the actual scanning. They can move that request to the scanning queue. 158 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:46.379 --> 00:27:52.139 And they can use batch processing to do that. 159 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:27:52.139 --> 00:28:01.379 After they scanned the article, the next step is to click the article exchange. 160 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:01.379 --> 00:28:09.269 And most libraries, um, well, I shouldn't say most, like, there's a lot of libraries, like to use the request ID number. 161 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:09.269 --> 00:28:19.799 As the file name, for the article that they've scanned so navigate to wherever you've saved that that scan file on your computer and then. 162 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:19.799 --> 00:28:24.629 Open that file and click drop file. That's what attaches the. 163 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:24.629 --> 00:28:27.719 The request to the article to the request. 164 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:27.719 --> 00:28:47.719 If you're not sure whether you attach the correct article, you can't click preview, but that's an optional step. Most of the time you want to do that and then the final step is to click. Yes. And, of course, he don't need any shipping labels or bootstraps or stickers because this is going to be transmitted electronically. So basically. 165 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:47.719 --> 00:28:51.569 Once you you click drop file and click. Yes. 166 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:51.569 --> 00:28:59.609 As a lending library you're finished. So let me demonstrate this for you in the live system. 167 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:28:59.609 --> 00:29:07.559 So, I'm going to open the lending priorities copies queue. 168 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:07.559 --> 00:29:14.069 And I'm going to open 1 of these requests that I want to work with. I'll choose this 1. 169 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:14.069 --> 00:29:34.069 And so you can choose if you want to print book straps, you don't you don't need a bootstrap obviously, as a packing slip to send with the item but you still may want to print that to, to facilitate retrieving the item from the stacks. You have some other options for printing as well you could print the. 170 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:34.069 --> 00:29:42.239 Full request, you can add to the request print queue, or you could print this the single request right now by choosing print. Now. 171 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:42.239 --> 00:29:46.499 So, let's assume that I've done that and I mark as retrieving. 172 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:52.019 --> 00:29:55.649 And then I can move to the next request, and I could do. 173 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:29:55.649 --> 00:30:00.779 Same thing there. Let me go ahead. And let's assume that I've already printed it. 174 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:00.779 --> 00:30:03.809 And all again, Mark, that as retrieving. 175 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:03.809 --> 00:30:12.989 So, what the next person in the work flow, uh, could do is they can open this. 176 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:12.989 --> 00:30:17.639 Retrieving cue and batch update all these to scanning. 177 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:17.639 --> 00:30:23.159 By clicking the scanning button and then, uh. 178 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:23.159 --> 00:30:32.459 Clicking the plus sign and clicking scanning. 179 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:32.459 --> 00:30:47.399 And then the next person that does this workflow could open the scanning queue, or they could just open the individual request by clicking the by searching for the request ID. 180 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:47.399 --> 00:30:53.039 And so what I'm going to do with this 1, is I'm going to assume I've already scanned it to my computer. 181 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:53.039 --> 00:30:56.609 I'm going to click the article exchange. 182 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:30:56.609 --> 00:31:00.839 Then I'm going to find wherever I saved this on my computer. 183 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:31:11.159 --> 00:31:22.019 And then I'm going to click drop file and if I needed to check and be sure I scanned the right article. I can click the preview button. 184 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:31:22.019 --> 00:31:27.479 But otherwise my next step would be to click. Yes. 185 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:31:27.479 --> 00:31:34.589 And at that point, I'm finished as the lending library. 186 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:31:34.589 --> 00:31:40.859 What questions do you have about processing copy request as a lender? 187 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:31:46.529 --> 00:32:03.239 Keep in mind, you can also respond nowhere conditional if appropriate if the citation is incorrect and you, you can't correct it on your own you need to get the borrowing library. Correct to correct the citation. You can respond conditional. 188 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:03.239 --> 00:32:08.489 Or you can respond now with the item is not on the shelf, for example. 189 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:11.789 --> 00:32:22.829 So, what I would like to do next is give you an opportunity to participate in. 190 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:22.829 --> 00:32:26.519 A simulation and I'm going to. 191 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:26.519 --> 00:32:35.849 Put a URL into chat, and the easiest way to get to the simulation is to just click that link in chat or you can. 192 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:35.849 --> 00:32:55.849 Um, copy and paste it into your favorite web browser. Remember that in most web browsers, you can press control on the plus sign to make the display bigger or control in the minus sign to make the display smaller. And if you're not sure what to do next, most of the simulation screens have a hint button at the top and. 193 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:32:55.849 --> 00:33:00.119 You click that, and that will show you where to click or or what to do next. 194 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:33:00.119 --> 00:33:14.819 And when you finish the stimulation, the stimulation may take about 15 minutes or so to do, please click the smile reaction or 1 of those other. 195 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:33:14.819 --> 00:33:22.769 Reactions from the bottom of the screen and if you finish early, um, also try the quiz. 196 "Rick Newell" (3045472768) 00:33:22.769 --> 00:33:29.999 And if the chat panel listen open, remember, you can click that button at the bottom right of the screen.
